Zo was Forsyth een uitgesproken voorstander van Brexit en had hij een column in tabloid The Daily Express. Forsyth werd geboren in 1938 in Kent, in het Engeland van voor de Twee Wereldoorlog. In de Franse hoofdstad deed hij inspiratie op voor zijn eerste boek: The Day of The Jackal.
