Sinds begin februari is de Amerikaanse internationale hulporganisatie USAID zo goed als volledig ontmanteld: het hoofdkwartier in Washington D.C. Met een budget van vele miljarden dollars was USAID met voorsprong de grootste humanitaire hulporganisatie ter wereld. Ze stond ook in voor de aankoop en distributie van anticonceptiemiddelen in verschillende ontwikkelingslanden.
