Ukrainian and European security officials have met with US Vice-President JD Vance in the UK to discuss the ongoing war with Russia, ahead of a summit between the US and Russian presidents next week. In a joint statement, the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Finland and the European Union said they "welcome President Trump's work to stop the killing in Ukraine". "The end of the war must be fair, and I am grateful to everyone who stands with Ukraine and our people today for the sake of peace in Ukraine, which is defending the vital security interests of our European nations," he wrote on X.
