The company clearly aimed to leave a lasting impression before shifting all focus to the end of the year and the road to next year’s Royal Rumble. It went from the end of a historic world title reign to the crowning of the man the entire fanbase rallied behind. It has basically taken the place of Hell in a Cell: a great gimmick match that loses its spark because WWE uses it every year just to match the name of the premium live event.
