Trump asked special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner what the chances were of reaching an agreement with Tehran, according to a senior US official, Israel’s Channel 12’s Barak Ravid said on Telegram Saturday. The pair told the president history shows the West has never been able to strike a positive deal with the Islamic Republic leaders, but that they would continue to “take a tough line” during negotiations, Ravid reported. The US has been trying to hammer out a deal with Tehran to limit its nuclear capabilities and avoid heading into a war, but a first round of negotiations in Oman this week failed to produce an agreement.
