Co-directed by Burns, Sarah Botstein and David P. Schmidt, The American Revolution is a new six-part documentary series covering the birth of the United States of America, from the founding of thirteen British colonies to the establishment of a federal government as they strive towards the perfect union. The documentary, which premiered Nov. 16 on PBS, already nabbed The Critics Choice Association award for Best Historical Documentary in a tie with National Geographic’s documentary Hurricane Katrina: Race Against Time. The American Revolution is available to stream on pbs.org and the free PBS App.
