Chris follows the paths of past deadly viruses, visiting the epicentre of the Nipah virus in Malaysia, which inspired the film Contagion, and heading to the frontline of the ongoing bird flu outbreak in dairy cattle in California. Under the guidance of then series editor Alan Yentob (above), and working alongside director Nigel Finch, films such as My Way, Desert Island Discs and The Private Life of the Ford Cortina would breathe new life into the BBC’s arts programming.
