Since 1998, a total of 19 Spudshed stores have opened, selling directly from the Galati family farms, which are spread across WA from Kununurra in the north to Manjimup in the south. He remembers getting up early before school to cut cauliflower or lettuce on the day it went to market, and the horse and plough used to maintain the fields until machinery was introduced in the 1960s. "You've got places like the Ord River in the Kimberley with thousands of acres, whereas I don't see the land available to set something up of scale to make it a viable proposition."
