American military forces boarded a sanctioned oil tanker in the Indian Ocean after tracking the vessel for thousands of miles after it fled the Caribbean, the Department of War (DOW) announced Monday. U.S. military personnel conducted a right-of-visit maritime interdiction and boarding of the Aquila II without incident in the INDOPACOM area of responsibility, according to the Pentagon. “The Department of War will deny illicit actors and their proxies the ability to defy American power in the global maritime domain,” the statement concluded.
