After two years of US-backed Israeli genocide in Gaza that’s left hundreds of thousands of Palestinian children dead, maimed, starved, sickened, and displaced and countless others traumatized for life, a key United Nations leader on Wednesday urged an immediate ceasefire and entry of humanitarian aid into the embattled strip. Experts, including the authors of multiple peer-reviewed studies in the prestigious British medical journal The Lancet, say the actual death toll is much higher, and will likely not be known for some time, as thousands of missing people are presumed dead and buried beneath the rubble of bombed buildings in a territory in which 90% of all homes have been destroyed. But largely due to the sheer scale of slaughter, most of the children killed by Israeli bombs, bullets, and blockade will remain nameless statistics to the world, despite the best efforts of Gaza officials and international activists to record and remember them.
