Clear and Present Danger is an expertly crafted thriller based on the Tom Clancy creation, where Ryan uncovers the President's ties to a dirty little covert war on a drug cartel. He's both believable as the hard-assed patriot standing up to corruption and as the affable family man who really just wants to get home to his wife and kids. The film explores the moral murkiness of the spy trade - and the price its characters pay for playing it.
