Bengaluru: A 45-year-old thief was arrested on charges of stealing gold and silver ornaments from children at marriage halls and public gatherings, and also lifting vehicles. The Channapatna native was caught red-handed while attempting a theft at a function in Palace Grounds on March 7.A police officer said Babu would dress well and visit convention halls. He'd approach children below 12-13 years, gain their trust and then steal their ornaments.An Electronics City resident said his daughter's gold-plated silver chain and gold pendant worth around Rs 70,000 were stolen at Palace Grounds on May 9, 2025, while she was playing on the premises of Princess Golf Convention Hall.
