In case you haven't been keeping up, 2026 is the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, which preceded most of the Revolutionary War but is designated as the milestone that marks beginning of the United States of America. The Smithsonian Institution, being more of a museum than anything else, has an entire year of special events and exhibitions planned, with the first being an event from the National Portrait Gallery on February 14th.
