Aware of the danger this poses, prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu has announced the opening of an ‘eighth front’, the ‘battle for truth’, in order to win back hearts and minds (1). The US president has just approved the possible takeover of 80% of TikTok USA by a consortium led by Larry Ellison, the world’s second-richest man and the biggest private donor to the Israeli military. At his company, Oracle – which provides, among other things, the data centres and surveillance infrastructure used by the Israeli authorities – the philosophy is clear: ‘If they don’t agree with our mission to support the State of Israel then maybe we aren’t the right company for them’ (so said former CEO Safra Catz).
