The “mondo movie” trend faded, despite several Faces of Death sequels, but found footage horror is a close cousin, and it’s been going strong for decades, with the V/H/S series in particular keeping it at the forefront of the genre. While we know this is a Legendary Entertainment release, the generic handle crafted to release this (age-restricted and unlisted) YouTube video is clearly and cleverly designed to make Faces of Death feel like you’re watching something you’ve just happened upon—and maybe shouldn’t be looking at. Though we don’t have more to go on than this brief clip and the release date, reports from 2023 as the project (directed by Daniel Goldhaber, who made Cam and How to Blow Up a Pipeline) was in production noted a cast that includes Barbie Ferreira (Euphoria), Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things), and pop star turned actor Charlie XCX.
