Thanos' snap became the most iconic villain moment in Marvel history, and the Mad Titan was transformed into an iconic evil-doer essential to the fabric of the Marvel Universe. The 2000s see the rise of Brian Michael Bendis, whose work redefined Marvel in myriad ways, from the breakout success of Ultimate Spider-Man to the revitalization of the Avengers. Icon Level: 8 (The Maker is a great villain, but he's the result of highly convoluted comics lore, and hasn't achieved the same aesthetic simplicity of Thanos snapping away half of all life or Dark Phoenix burning an entire planet to a crisp.)
