And the way the episode stresses that other people can ground us (even if we live in the real world and aren't experiencing kinks in the space-time continuum) is right in line with the spirit of Christmas. And while this Christmas episode doesn't actually have the entire family together to celebrate the holiday, seeing the different Dunphy-Pritchett households dealing with their own messes and coming together at the end helped us fall in love with the show in its first season. The first Christmas special of New Who gave us both as David Tennant stepped into the iconic role as the Tenth Doctor, joining Rose Tyler who returned in a terrifying and brilliant episode that is still one of the best Doctor Who episodes of all time.
