The Israeli military has requested government approval to mobilize up to 450,000 reservists, in preparation for a possible ground operation in Lebanon, as the US-Israeli war with Iran has entered its 17th day. The IDF wants to raise the current cap of 260,000 reservists, according to Israel’s public broadcaster KAN, as its operations against Hezbollah have already reportedly killed at least 850 civilians, including more than 100 children, over the past week. Iran’s Kharg Island was “totally demolished,” but “we may hit it a few more times just for fun,” US President Donald Trump has stated, raising fears of a deeper shock to global energy supplies if the infrastructure on Iran’s main oil export hub is damaged.
