The mysterious menace of Star Trek: Discovery season 4, the Dark Matter Anomaly (also known as the DMA) suddenly appeared in the United Federation of Planets' space and immediately destroyed Kwejian, the homeworld of Cleveland Booker (David Ajala). Burnham's defeat of Osyraa, as well as the USS Discovery's crew led by Captain Saru (Doug Jones), solving the mystery of the Burn, resulted in Michael's promotion to Captain and command of the USS Discovery at the end of Star Trek: Discovery season 3. In arguably Star Trek: Discovery's best episode, "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad," Harry Mudd boarded the USS Discovery and trapped everyone aboard in a time loop that repeatedly destroyed the starship, Mudd's endgame was to hijack Discovery and sell its spore drive to the Klingons.
