"We’re trying to be very sensitive to how people will interpret the themes and designs of the coins," one of the members of the coin advisory panel told the Wall Street Journal of the previous designs. The 2021 law establishing the creation of the coins noted that the designs "must be emblematic of a woman's or women's contribution to the birth of the nation or the Declaration of Independence or any other monumental moments in American history."
