The Chairman of Bukuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Faru, has called on the Federal Government to equip security agencies with sophisticated weapons to enable a decisive military offensive against bandits operating in the Gando Forest. “I personally gave them all the coordinates that would allow them to finish these people once and for all, but they do not have the weapons to take the fight to them,” the council chairman disclosed. He described the Gando Forest as an emerging epicentre of banditry in Zamfara State, noting that the situation had deteriorated following the influx of armed groups who previously entered peace agreements in parts of Katsina State and Birnin Gwari in Kaduna State.
