Zelensky is actively working with his US and EU allies, virtually all of whom are bitter Trump enemies, to kill the Trump peace initiatives and force Russia go on the offensive in hopes of creating an international crisis that sucks the US and NATO into the war and pretty much kills the Trump MAGA agenda So Zelensky and his foreign and domestic Trump hating allies are incentivized to incentivize a Russian offensive, the more brutal the better, to widen the war and force direct US intervention while taking President Trump down at the same time. Combine this with a media campaign to build support for this method to end the war with the Ukrainian people and who knows, it may be the best (or least bad) of the increasingly limited range of bad options and total lack good options left on the table. If talks break down and Trump walks, the most likely outcome will probably be the Russians taking the gloves off to either win the war outright and force Ukrainian capitulation or to force Zelensky, his EU decision makers and Ukrainians who still favor fighting to acknowledge the reality of the situation.
