For the second time in less than a year, the city of Pottsville will begin the search for a new mayor following the resignation of Mayor Mark Atkinson. Mayor Atkinson, who was appointed to the position in late 2024 after the resignation of then-Mayor Dave Clews, announced Saturday that he will be stepping down due to health reasons linked to his military service. It has been an honor to represent the people of Pottsville, and I wish all the best for a successful and vibrant City.”
