Police sub-inspector caught taking Rs 40,000 bribe in Karnataka


Bengaluru: Days after the Lokayukta trapped a police inspector accepting Rs 4-lakh bribe, a sub-inspector with Tumakuru Rural police station was caught taking Rs 40,000 from a private company employee Friday night.The accused SI, Chetan Kumar, demanded the money to not book a drug-peddling case against the youth and to release his SUV that was seized and kept at the police station. When they called, he demanded Rs 5 lakh to not book a case of drug peddling against them and to release the vehicle. Finally, he agreed to accept Rs 40,000," Lokayukta police said.Kumar was produced before the special court for Lokayukta cases in Tumakuru Saturday and sent to police custody
