It's hard to say if anything would ever have saved this game from certain doom, but there's one service that Sony continues to refuse to provide to its PlayStation Plus subscribers that might've helped to some extent: day-one access to first-party games. Concord's ultimate failure may have been unavoidable in the long run, but Sony might have been able to at least delay the inevitable and garner some level of interest in the game if it had given PS Plus subscribers immediate access. The situation raises the question of whether Sony's commitment to not making day-one first-party games available to PS Plus subscribers should be a blanket philosophy, or if the company should make exceptions for certain games, particularly live-service games like Concord that rely on player count and daily users.
