Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz thanked Minaj, born Onika Tanya Maraj, for “using your platform to speak out in defense of the Christians being persecuted in Nigeria.” Waltz went on to invite the musician to meet with him in the U.S. Embassy in New York to speak further about the matter. “I would love to speak with you in more depth about what our administration is doing to protect Christians’ freedoms all over the world,” he added, to which Minaj replied in a separate post she would be “honored” for the opportunity.
