Bengaluru: Deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar's public outreach event at JP Park turned tense Sunday when BJP MLA Munirathna and his supporters disrupted the proceedings, accusing the former of converting a govt programme into a party event. For the past three days, Shivakumar, who also holds the Bengaluru development portfolio, has been holding a citywide campaign titled ‘Bengaluru Nadige', aimed at interacting with residents and collecting feedback on civic issues.Sunday, he met people from various walks of life, including morning walkers, at the park, located in Munirathna's RR Nagar constituency. Munirathna, who joined the walk midway, was present in the audience dressed in the RSS uniform, including a black cap.Following the walk, Shivakumar and senior officials of GBA and Bengaluru North City Corporation assembled for a stage event where the DCM was to hear citizens' grievances and interact with them.Claiming he was not invited, Munirathna sat amongst the public. Calling him out, Shivakumar addressed Munirathna as "black cap", adding that the latter started wearing it only recently.Munirathna then walked onto the stage to register his protest by questioning why the banners had no names of the local MP or MLA.He asked for the microphone from the DCM and spoke to the audience, and accused the organisers of conducting a Congress event under the guise of a public interaction.
