While episode #1 and the ending theme put a lot of focus on Machu and Nyaan’s dynamic, episode #3 gives Machu a far more intimate relationship with Shuji, and with how passive Nyaan has been written to be, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX episode #3 makes it hard to tell what role Nyaan will serve in the overarching plot. While Shiiko was supposed to be living in retirement with her family, Shiiko held a grudge against the Red Gundam because the Red Gundam’s Pilot, Char Aznable, killed her partner in the One Year War, and when she learned that the Red Gundam was fighting for the Pomeranians, Shiiko joined a Federation-funded team in a Clan Battle against the Pomeranians to get her revenge against the Red Gundam. The mysterious song heard when the Kira-Kira appears has now officially been named the La-La Song, a clear reference to Lalah Sune of the original Gundam anime, which suggests that Lalah Sune will have a part to play in Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX thanks to her implied connection to the La-La Song and the Kira-Kira.
