Maharashtra: Man gets 3-year rigorous imprisonment for theft, 13 past cases filed against him


Thane: A 30-year-old labourer was sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment by the Chief Judicial Magistrate court in Thane for committing a house theft at night and stealing cash and jewellery worth Rs 32,000 from a family in June last year while they were asleep. The accused, Amit Pradip Jagtap, a resident of Siddharth Nagar in Kopri, was also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000, failing which he would have to undergo an additional three months of simple imprisonment.The complainant was sleeping along with his wife, Kadambari, and his mother in their second-floor flat. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and led police to his house, where stolen cash was recovered from under a bed.
