Dr Imogen Wegman, coordinator of the Family History program at the University of Tasmania, says the risk of losing the older generation can often spark an interest in recording a family's back story, as in Inez's case. They start to look back at the story that has played out in their own life, and they wonder how it reflects a story that might have played out in other people's lives, in their ancestors," Dr Wegman says. " We pull out the family photo album … maybe their wedding photo album and I press record on the voice recorder on my phone and I say a little introduction and then we just talk our way through the photo album.
