President Trump’s clever use of the left’s fear he will run yet again (despite constitutional limits) has effectively banished the term “lame duck.” No one can think about the concept of lame duck while proclaiming the man is on the verge of seizing a third presidential term. The 22nd Amendment states: “No person shall be elected to the office of the president more than twice, and no person who has held the office of president, or acted as president, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected president shall be elected to the office of the president more than once.” Changing the constitution would require a two-thirds approval from both the Senate and the House of Representatives, as well as approval from three-quarters of the country’s state-level governments. Derek Muller, an election law professor at the University of Notre Dame, said the Constitution’s 12th Amendment says “no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of president shall be eligible to that of vice-president of the United States”.
