The state of Oregon on Sunday filed a lawsuit to block President Donald Trump’s administration from deploying troops to the city of Portland, one day after the commander-in-chief announced he was sending the National Guard to the “war ravaged” city. The city of Portland joined the state in the lawsuit, which was filed in a federal court in Portland on Sunday. On Saturday, Trump posted to Truth Social, “At the request of Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, I am directing Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland, and any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists.”
