Hashimoto was first elected to the House of Councilors in 1995 and has had a varied political career as Minister in Charge of Women’s Empowerment, Vice-Minister for Hokkaido Development, Chair of the Education Committee, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Deputy Secretary-General of the Liberal-Democratic Party, Minister of State for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games and President of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Organizing Committee. So this is a fact, and therefore, on the part of the JOC, we have to closely look into what has happened, investigate the details, and try to share this openly as much as possible and with that understanding proceed to whatever needs to be done.”
