Jodie Ginsberg, CEO of the Committee to Protect Journalists and one of the signatories of the appeal, told DW that the lack of foreign journalists in Gaza allows misinformation to flourish. "It's vital during any kind of conflict that we have as many independent media as possible who can communicate to the outside world precisely what is happening," Ginsberg said. Ginsberg said it was "unprecedented in modern warfare" for the media to still be banned from the territory 20 months into the conflict.
