Ishiba cabinet support rate rises to 35%; majority say PM doesn't need to quit

The support rate dropped to a record-low 22.9 percent in the previous survey, which was conducted days after the ruling coalition headed by Ishiba lost its majority in the House of Councillors in the July 20 election. Ishiba has defied calls to leave even though the outcome of the July election followed the coalition of the LDP and the Komeito party having lost its majority in the House of Representatives in last October's election. By political party, support for the LDP stood at 22.5 percent, 10.4 percent backed the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, 10.4 percent were for the Democratic Party for the People, and 7.3 percent backed the Japan Innovation Party.
