I will go against those who are at rest, who live securely, all of them living without walls and having no bars or gates, to capture spoil and to seize plunder, to turn your hand against the waste places which are now inhabited, and against the people who are gathered from the nations, who have acquired cattle and goods, who live at the center of the world.” How can the remnant of Israel who have escaped the Antichrist at the midpoint of the Tribulation by fleeing to the mountains (most likely Petra, Jordan), be living securely at the end of the Tribulation? After the Second Coming, the second pouring of God’s Spirit on the house of Israel is recorded in Zechariah 12:10, “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn.” I believe this will occur on a future Day of Atonement. “Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the LORD.
