In 2018, Diabetes UK applauded Lucas as an example of how to live with the disease, saying: "George Lucas set a great example for millions of diabetic patients around the world by keeping his blood sugar levels under control for about 50 long years." With management, Lucas has been able to make his mark on Hollywood as one of the most successful filmmakers of the 20th century.
