It is inexcusable negligence, however, because it encourages bias, ethnocentrism, and historical ignorance by obscuring the important truth that humanity’s claimed gods number in the millions and its religions in the hundreds of thousands. Abiogenesis is the scientific investigation into the beginning of life by natural processes and therefore logically balances the counterclaim that a god or gods created life supernaturally. Adopt intellectually honest and practical definitions of “believer,” “atheist,” and “agnostic.” The quality of our thoughts and conversations about gods would improve immensely if everyone agreed on the meaning of key terms.
