Senior running back Syone Usma-Harper carried the ball three times on the ensuing drive, the final being a 1-yard TD run and kicker Mathew Bacik it the extra points for a 17-6 halftime lead. The GVSU defense forced a three-and-out to force a Wayne State punt and the Lakers' Anthony Scott recovered a fumbled snap in the end zone for a touchdown to up the Laker lead to 31-6. Quarterback Zak Olejniczak rushed for a 5-yard touchdown and Kellen Russell-Dixon rushed for a 2-yard touchdown to conclude the scoring.
