Organisers described the event as a huge success and hope to build on it next year with the aim of turning the Helsinki Poc Fada into the official world winter championships. Passing locals stopped to watch in confusion and curiosity at the sight of sliothars being driven across the ice in the middle of the city, according to the club, Helsinki Harpers. The freezing conditions proved to be the biggest challenge of the day, with players remarking that the sliothar was turning “as hard as a rock” in the cold air.
