In order to meet White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller’s monthly quotas, Immigration and Customs Enforcement has put a pin in the kind of Sicario-style raids of cartel compounds on which Trump sold his deportation doctrine, choosing instead to just roam the streets picking up anyone who looks Latin enough at construction sites, car washes and body shops across the country. During a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the right-wing podcasting kingpin complained about how the otherwise unemployable agents of ICE are swiping everyday blue-collar workers off the street instead of single-handedly dismantling the criminal underworld like Trump promised. It’s not surprising that Rogan is so gullible that he really thought the waves of new ICE recruits, all of whom couldn’t find a respectable job, would start their careers in border enforcement by taking out the most dangerous and resourceful criminals on the continent instead of just rolling through their neighborhood Home Depot one a week.
