The Tasmanian Greens were critical of the scope of the review, arguing it did not have the ability to fully investigate how police responded to known allegations. "The Greens repeatedly raised concerns about the narrow scope of the terms of reference for the Weiss Review, which did not allow a comprehensive examination of how Tasmania Police responded to Reynolds either in 2008 or 2018," she said. At the time of the funeral, a "small number" of Tasmania Police staff — including those at the highest echelon of police — were aware that Reynolds was being investigated.
