Bengaluru: In a first, the Karnataka Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission started a mediation centre in Ballari.The centre, which opened Saturday, aims to make consumer disputes easier to resolve through mediation. Formally opened by chairman TG Shivashankare Gowda, it is the first in the state to have its own purpose-built infrastructure for mediation.The centre allows consumers and service providers to settle disputes through dialogue rather than litigation, helping restore relationships while saving time and reducing the burden on courts. Mediators appointed by the commission facilitate discussions as per requests from the parties, maintain confidentiality and report outcomes to the court.
