While Israel and US officials have not stated where exactly the hostages may be, the families of the captives believe many of them are located inside Deir al-Balah, a city within central Gaza that has been largely spared by the war. As Israel faces more pressure to end the war over humanitarian concerns in Gaza, the families of hostages fear that the goal of freeing the last captives could fall by the wayside.
