Suwinski, 27, was designated for assignment earlier in the week by the Pirates, the only team he’s played for in four major league seasons. Originally a draft pick of the San Diego Padres, Suwinski was traded to the Pirates in the 2021 deal that sent Adam Frazier to San Diego. Alex Call, whom the Dodgers acquired from the Washington Nationals last July ahead of their second consecutive World Series championship, is currently the primary backup outfielder on their depth chart.
