Democrats Shouldn’t Compromise with Russell Vought to End the Shutdown

Stephen Miller forever will be the primary poison behind an increasingly empty throne, but now that the Big Ruckus is upon us, we should not sleep on Russell Vought, the director of the Office of Management and Budget, the brains behind Project 2025, and an almost perfect exemplar of the soulless bureaucrat who causes human damage as easily as he breathes. Vought and President Donald Trump have both threatened to inflict maximum pain on Democrats during the shutdown as Senate Republicans hope to peel off additional Democrats in the coming days to vote for the GOP-led stopgap to end the standoff. He said the plans are a response to a “Marxist takeover” of the country; likened the moment to 1776 and 1860, when the country was at war or on the brink of it; and said the timing of Trump’s candidacy was a “gift of God.”
