After a major cameo in 2013, he made another surprising return in 2022's "The Power of the Doctor," portraying the fourteenth incarnation of the Doctor for the show's 60th anniversary celebrations. As Doctor Who season 15 draws closer to its end and the show's future remains uncertain, Tennant was asked about the rumors that he had been selected to lead the show once more when speaking to The Guardian. When the bigeneration first occurred, both Donna (Catherine Tate) and the Fifteenth Doctor suggested that the opportunity would finally allow the Time Lord to process several lifetimes' worth of trauma and give the Fifteenth incarnation a fresh start.
