Council unveils N1.2m course for Ukraine, Sudan-trained medical graduates


The Federal Government, through the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, has announced a final mandatory six-month remediation programme for foreign-trained medical and dental graduates whose studies were disrupted by the 2022 Ukraine war and the 2023 Sudan conflict, The PUNCH has learnt. Recall that following the suspension of physical classes in Ukraine due to the war, the MDCN announced that it would no longer recognise medical and dental degrees obtained through online study. In the memo dated January 26, 2026, the MDCN stated, “The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria hereby informs all foreign-trained graduates of Medicine and Dentistry who have obtained medical or dental degree certificates that the MDCN is organising a six-month remediation programme to update their knowledge and skills in line with the standards required for medical and dental practice in Nigeria.
