The Chery, which was the winner in this segment last year, still impresses with great value. At $23,990 drive-away, it’s the most affordable of our finalists in petrol guise, and still the most affordable at $29,990 drive-away with hybrid power. There is also a very useable interior space and good levels of standard equipment, but the value equation for the hybrid premium ($6000 jump over petrol) isn’t quite there in terms of fuel efficiency savings.
