Buried for 80 years with the wrong name, Charlie Bob finally comes home


In 1963, Charlie Bob's name, or a version of it, was also added to the Roll of Honour at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, as one of 40,000 who served and died in World War II. Charlie Bob was buried in accordance with the rites of Western Christianity, but the wrong name on his headstone means the Wik part of the ritual is incomplete. "The investigation was to go full circle and I found my way back to Irwin and Ariana — who happened to be the direct descendants of the person who was laying in the grave there."
